Lukas: A Musical | Working with genius

Last month, I wrote about Lukas: A Musical, which premieres at Factory Berlin on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th of November. Tickets are on sale here.

Here’s a taste of the fabulous score from co-writer and lead “Lukas” performer Ben Southam.

I’m very excited to be the Musical Director and keyboardist for this fantastic show which counts talents from Canada, Germany, Britain, America, and Chile as its cast and crew.

On a personal level, it’s also been a humbling experience working with as exceptional a talent as Mr. Southam. Ben is a consummate musician: his vocal power and writing, particularly his chord voicings, are phenomenal, and he always sings and plays in the pocket. It’s been a tremendous inspiration to collaborate with someone who is both a peer (as far as our by-ear analysis powers go) and a true role model. It’s also a little intimidating to work with such a quick, versatile genius. Luckily Ben is as genuinely warm and funny as he is talented.

Don’t miss the chance to experience Ben’s incredible voice in person. This is history in the making.
